Your position allows you to cover a sound role inside DS Smith at the end of the programme. German graduates will start in the DS Smith Asschaffenburg Mill in Germany.
Organization
DS Smith
DS Smith is a leading provider of corrugated packaging, active in 37 countries, employing around 28,500 people. The Paper Division by itself has about 2,900 talented employees across a network of 12 paper mills: 10 paper mills across Europe and 2 in North America, strategically located near raw material sources and our customers. The mills produce around 3,7 million tonnes (3,1 million tonnes in Europe and 0,6 million in the USA) of corrugated case materials and specialist industrial products annually. The majority of these products are converted into board and boxes for packaging. The remaining produce is used for specialist papers. As a supply cycle strategist, DS Smith aims to provide long term solutions that create efficient packaging ecosystems. All of our finished paper products are 100% recyclable and sustainably sourced, with all our European products made from recycled fibres. By continually investing in the latest papermaking technologies, DS Smith can produce the highest quality of papers.
Function
The programme
The DS Smith Paper Graduate Program is a 2-year programme that will take you around several DS Smith mills in Europe. Per year you will have at least two assignments in one mill. This means you will work in at least two different mills in different countries within two years time. You will become part of an ambitious and internationally oriented working environment, with plenty of chances to grow and develop.
You will gain in-depth knowledge of DS Smith Paper and its exceptionally dynamic working environment. Being provided with full access to the manufacturing and commercial facilities, you will quickly gain a wide and holistic perspective of the paper business.
Throughout your entire professional experience in DS Smith, you will be assigned a mentor to give you support and regular feedback on your performance and development. You will be involved in all the main Management Training Initiatives (such as the EMP – Engaging Managers Programme) to prepare yourself for a management position at DS Smith within two years.
You will attend various courses with fellow trainees, for example: the Fundamentals of Papermaking, Continuous Excellence, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Effective Delegation and Managing Change.
DS Smith will help you apply your knowledge and experience to make a real and valued contribution to the organisation while exposing yourself to all facets and attributes of the DS Smith world.
